Hello and welcome! My name is Kara and I am the Founder and Owner of Lulu Bean Rattery. My journey into the world of small pets began unexpectedly. I had been a dog person my entire life with little to no interest in rodents, but a little rescue rat named Lulu came along and stole my heart. She showed me just how sweet, loving and intelligent these tiny companions can be. They are truly deserving of the title "pocket puppies".

Being a complete novice to rat ownership (like we all have been), I went down the rabbit hole learning everything I could about how to best care for my little girl. Although I got the logistics down, I never was satisfied with the generic, poor quality, multi-species small animal food mixes on the market. Thus, Freya's Small Animal Mix was born. Since Lulu's time, I have cared for dozens of rescue rats, mice and hamsters, and my business and mixes have only expanded from there.

At Lulu Bean, we believe pets are family and that every creature, big and small, deserves high-quality nutrition. Each species is unique, with specific dietary needs that we feel cannot be met by a one-size-fits-all mix.
